About Triple R Pets
Mission Statement
Triple R Pets is a volunteer-staffed, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of animals and their human companions through sustained disaster relief services and on-going programs designed to support animal shelters nationwide in their efforts to promote animal welfare.
Brief History
Triple R Pets is a grassroots effort of volunteers from across the country coming together to provide support for animals during crisis situations. The group was formed in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina when there was a need for ongoing support in the communities of Coastal Mississippi. Then and now, Triple R Pets helps animals lead safer, healthier lives by working with pet owners and with their communities.
In 2007, we established a pet foodbank operative in the Midwestern states. Our food bank continues to warehouse donated pet food and distribute it to shelters in the Midwest.
In 2006, Triple R Pets launched its spay/neuter programs in our home base area, south and southwest Chicagoland. Focusing on TNR (trap/neuter/return) efforts for feral and stray cats, our volunteers are lowering the number of unwanted kittens born on the streets and raising the quality of life for the now spayed and neutered feral cats that must remain outside. As of 2010, the volunteers of Triple R Pets have humanely trapped, transported, and provided spay/neuter services for 1,500 free-roaming cats.
Today, supporters now form a national network of volunteers providing spay/neuter programs, foster care and adoption services, pet food programs to enable pet owners to keep their pets, community awareness educational programs, and at-the-moment disaster relief projects.
